Allpack recently took on an exciting packaging design project to create a transit packaging solution for a well-known brand in the confectionery industry. The aim was to develop a packaging solution that not only safeguarded the doughnuts during transportation but also enhanced the end consumer experience.

Packaging Challenges
The key challenge was to find a packaging solution that would protect the soft doughnuts during transit, preventing damage and preserving their freshness. Additionally, the brand owner sought a solution that would improve the overall consumer experience and reduce packaging waste. It was therefore necessary to consider both protection capacity, the unboxing process and the materials required to operate sustainably.
Solution
To ensure all requirements were met, we proposed a unique outer box design that transformed the doughnut packaging process. The innovative design allowed both packers and end consumers to easily slide the doughnut boxes in and out of the outer box, minimising the risk of damage during handling. The outer box was available in two different sizes, accommodating either one or two dozen doughnuts. Better still, the peel and seal ripper strip feature eliminated the need for tape, simplifying the packing process and further reducing packaging waste.
